Four Mortarmen. Mortarmen have the ability to attack multiple units at the same time using the smoke screen and barrage attacks. After attacking Mortarmen gain additional movement that can be used to retreat. Japan used the short range tiny Type 89 'knee mortar' that despite allied assumptions will break your knee if fired from it. Unlike allied standard size mortars which require multiple operators, each of these 4 mortarmen have their own grenade discharger mortar. They are the only Japanese unit equipped with smoke capability.


Special Notes (1.14-style, please update to the new list format to avoid duplicates):In woodlands, this unit’s ambush skill renders it invisible to enemies unless it is immediately adjacent or has revealed itself by attacking.This unit can hide in villages (with the exception of water villages), and remain undetected by its enemies, except by those standing next to it.The swarming attacks of this unit become less deadly whenever its members are wounded.This unit has magical attacks, which always have a high chance of hitting an opponent.This unit is able to slow its enemies, halving their movement speed and attack damage until they end a turn.
