Veterans of heavy infantry learn to prioritize between surviving their own attack and deciamting their opponents. They prefer more balanced swords equally suitable for aggresive and defensive fencing styles. Their role as a tip of footman attacks is preserved as well and empowered by their ability to fill themselves with a surge of vigor and unbending determination right before their attack. Also, unlike most other melee-centered combatants, they recognize usefulness of ranged attacks. Only light crossbow is carried to reduce encumbrance but shield is habitually set up for passive cover while shooting.
