The way Thanats form from ethereal disturbances rather than tangible resources is largely a mystery even to Thanats themselves. Very few of them managed to facilitate creation of other Thanats on purpose, even in the most favorable circumstances. Usually such successes are limited to merely providing a small push to a process of creation that started naturally and had a chance to end up with a new Thanat coming into existence without outside intervention. Some Thanats that went for incorporeal form try to achieve much more modest goal instead. They seek to utilize events of the same kind as those leading to new Thanats being formed but far weaker in terms of mystical potential accumulated in them. One possible application of this potential is for sculpting and augmentation of one's ethereal body, often making it bizarre in appearance. Another option is conjuration of haunts - short-lived husks resembling fully or partially formed Thanats and possessing some of the same capabilities but without minds of their own. These can be used as a potent weapon - or as a tool of self-expression.

Note: this unit is ''unliving'' (has fixed trait named ''unliving'') - it cannot be poisoned, when it is recalled its hitpoints are set to 20 and it can heal from ''healing places'' only when also eligible for rest-healing or under effect of ''siccates'' ability of allied unit

Note: this unit is ''spirit'' (has fixed trait named ''spirit'') - it inflicts and receives 50% less damage unless its opponent also has ''spirit'' trait, it cannot be healed and cured from poison with healing abilities of other units and does not receive damage from poison (poisoned state only prevents healing)
