Veterans of heavy infantry learn to prioritize surviving their own attack over deciamting their opponents. They prefer more balanced swords equally suitable for aggresive and defensive fencing styles. Their role as a tip of footman attacks is preserved as well and empowered by their ability to fill themselves with a surge of vigor and unbending determination by taking some time to concentrate right before the attack. Also, unlike most other melee-centered combatants, they recognize usefulness of ranged attacks. Only light crossbow is carried to reduce encumbrance but shield is habitually set up for passive cover while shooting.
