Death holds little meaning within Naia, and it only remains as a ceremonial punishment for crimes. Death and revival can still be extremely painful, however, according to the way the fatal wound was inflicted. Swordguards are, first and foremost, master executioners: their mastery of the blade allows them to strike exactly at the right point in the victim's body, in order to produce the amount of suffering required by the law. Their skills are, however, also useful in battle, and many a skilled soldier who double as swordguards when not on patrol can bring their abilities to bear when the situation demands it.
