While executioners can inflict enormous pain over a convicted individual, nothing can surpass the slow, steady agony produced by the right poison. Alchemists have betrayed much of the teachings of their brethren, and have learnt instead how to concoct powerful poisons in service of the community. Unfortunately, not all in the healers' circles agree with this interpretation. Over the years, alchemists have learnt to place their gardens far away from the cities to avoid tensions, but this places them at a greater personal danger. Therefore, any true alchemist has delved in the arts of self-defense to some extent, and they sport significant skill with the mace and an unparalleled ability to heal themselves even during a fight.
