Lictor

During the Republic, te Lictors used to be in the same time the bodyguards of the magistrates and the executionners for the people that had been sentenced to death. However, in th time of the Empire, the praeterian guar has overtaken this task and having Lictors is just a mark of social superiority. They are carrying an axe packed up in a wooden beam. The axe is for the excutions and the beam for punishing people who lack respect to their masters.
