A Judge. Upholder of the Law, Guardian of the Peace, Protector of the Empire, and so on, and so forth. Like many aspects of Imperial life, legal matters are rich in ceremony, though not necessarily efficiency.
In contrast to more progessive jurisdictions, the doctrine of separation of powers has not taken hold in the Empire. Far from simply sitting in court, Judges frequently take to the streets alongside regular guards, to scourge the criminal with staff and magic. With their faceless masks and black robes, a Judge leading a squad of hardened guardsmen is quite an intimidating sight, and it is not unknown for even hardened criminals to repent on the spot.
