Jephrif society is one where sustenance isn't a problem, nor is shelter. Options related to practically all inert solid matter don't exist miles above ground, being claimed by gravity. A non-combatant Jephrif spends its time on discussion and similar mental pursuits - and, thus, those who don't perform well in such conditions have a bad time. Lashers are practically always 'low-life' jephrifs - ones who do not mind being bossed around, lacking aspirations to command more respect by finding some niche of their own choice. They appear muted, their glacial surfaces mottled instead of being polished or decorated with interesting patterns of frost. They don't fear injury, and use no equipment, wielding their two long tendrils to tear at opponents their current leader points out.
