Abomination

The horrors of the first infection were nothing compared to the grotesque creatures from the Beta Strain. Foremost amongst these are the Abominations, eldritch conglomerations of flesh and gore, twisted and tortured, which bear no semblence from the biological material from which it originated. Due to an extreme form of the infection vector, their underlying metabolic and mitotic rate is greatly amplified, such that they are capable of replenishing damaged tendrils to their bodies and limited regeneration. This process can be sped up by the consumption of biomaterial, such as that conferred during physical contact with their prey. When threatened at range, abominations are capable of retaliating with spurs coated with a particularly aggressive digestive proteases, which will begin to degrade the target before closing in to feed. However, this enhanced regeneration and biological rate also means that they require more nutrition for sustanence, and not many can be fielded by the Beta Strain Hordes without depletion of their resources.
