Thanats often animate dead bodies with their innate arcane force to be used as their corporeal manifestations. This arcane force is potent only in the nearest vicinity around its carrier. Bodies of deceased warriors are preferred because they often come with weapons and armor, unless they were looted. Thanats can apply a fraction of their arcane force directly to items they manipulate which makes weighted weapons more effective than swords and other balanced arms. Maces and hammers tend to be too encumbering for Thanat's limited carrying capacity so axes become a natural choice. Also lower ribs are collected from other corpses to be attached to the spine of possessed corpse. They can be tossed at opponents with focused application of the same arcane force that animates the warrior's carapace, unless broken in combat before being used in this way.
