Agile fencers can use their weapons to parry opponent's melee swings. This kind of active protection is impractical for skirmishing shootouts because most projectiles are either much smaller or much heavier than melee weapons. Ice projectiles favored by some Saur spellcasters are big but relatively light for their size. They can be launched stright on or in an overhead arc to match trajectory of opponent's projectile for a chance to deflect it in mid-flight. Hitting an arrow or a slingstone in mid-flight is a feat of heroic proportions but with a barrage of large projectiles it is at least doable.

Note: this unit is ''leader'' - it cannot be recruited and if it dies then its owner is considered to be defeated.
