Ranger

These troops are equipped with a more advanced version of the rifles borne by the rank-and-file, allowing greater accuracy and range. Because these improvements make the rifle itself considerably more expensive and difficult to manufacture, only specialists can obtain one. Gnomish Rangers are selected from the best of the Militias, and must undergo extensive training to ensure they can take advantage of their superior weaponry. This includes not just marksmanship, but the ability to move quickly through cover, and to operate at night when visibility is poor.

Special Notes: By taking time to set up, this unit can make an extremely accurate and powerful shot. However, this can only be done on the attack.
