There are strange cults high north, in hideout far from the reach of wesnothian law. One of them is the 'cult of the wintermoon', believers of this cult disguise their mission as 'belief in harmonial existence with nature', and live in isolated settlements established deep in the wilds.

In truth however their ambition is an far sinister one, as they originally started as an group of people infected with Lycanthrophy. Their ultimate goal to control the disease that turns one into an werewolf has pushed them to the extreme in the past, and thus they got outlawed in almost any realm. This condition forced them to constantly wander northwards into lawless, yet dangerous lands where they atleast wouldnt be persecuted.
